Why people are so enthusiastic and grateful for the death of Jesus on the cross?

when there are many members of the armed forces who have been the death of prisoners of war and it is through much more traumatic and / or torture for the freedom of our country? I do not see as many people as are grateful for the brave men and women?

Many members of my family have fought, been injured for, and even died for this country, providing services in different branches of the armed forces. I am grateful beyond words for what they have, and all those who have served our country enjoys. I get emotional when I talk about it and think about what happened. However, what they were for, the fighting is limited with regard this life only. What Jesus Christ has suffered for, died, was my life eternal on the other side of this mortal life. Both are not really comparable, even to my eyes. Another difference is that Jesus not only suffered physically and emotionally, but suffered spiritually. When he took my sins upon him, took every bit of guilt and pain associated with my sins, your sins and the sins of all man and woman who is born or unborn. He took upon himself the burden willingly when necessary. Can you imagine what it would feel to go through all the guilt that has been felt throughout his life time? Imagine that time thousands of millions of lives have been through all the time. Focusing all in an instant, and have an idea of why we're happy when we say that Christ died on the cross for our sins.
