What languages are spoken by the soldiers during the Hundred Years War?
I know that the French soldiers speak French, but the side English, which would have spoken? I know that the ruling class and the Court speak French.
French remains the primary language. English has taking shape and it was common. Flanders was the vendor neutral language among merchants in England and France. Celtic still used in Britain and Wales. America continues to be used in the church and educated people. Walloon soldiers working as mercenaries. There were many languages in the 14th and 15th centuries used by those involved in this war and they are: Aragon in Aragon (Spain). Asturias, in the Spanish region Asturias. Valencian Catalan Corsican Franco-Provençal, sometimes called "Arpitan" Galicia, similar to Portuguese, is co-official in Galicia, Spain. Italian lions are recognized in Castilla y León (Spain). Mirandese is officially recognized by the Portuguese Parliament. Debatedly Norman was regarded as a language in itself or a standard dialect of French with their own regional. Occitan is spoken mainly in France, but is officially recognized in Spain as a three official languages of Catalonia (the appeal spiders). Portuguese is official in Portugal. It is also an officer in Brazil, and several ex-Romansch is an official language of Switzerland. Hope this helps.
