Need answers about careers in law enforcement?.
I have many questions, but here's the gist: I would end up as a homicide detective in Seattle, Washington. I am a woman. I do not want to work within the FBI. 1 Q: Should I start as a cop? 2nd Q: What are the material conditions (or any other condition, but especially physical) to graduate from? Academy 3rd Q: (I am sure that the detectives should start as police) is if all the detectives and police officers have guns, badges, etc.? Q4: (If this assumption is correct in Q3,) the time at which a person must be a cop (assuming they do their job) before becoming a detective? 5 Q: What courses should I take in college? 6 Q: Is the Academy a school after college? How long? Any other information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you much. Q. .. 7?: What are aptitude tests there before, during and after the Academy / while a policeman?
First, I recommend that you try to enter under federal law. Wages and benefits are much better than the state and local levels. What is really not homicide detectives at the federal level. The FBI did not investigate the killings a little, but the special agents to cover more than homicide. If killing is what they really want to go. Refer to a criminal justice degree, whether in your area or online. There are many good online schools that offer criminal justice degrees in half the time. You have to attend the Academy training, which falls most often in the neighborhood of six months. Everything depends on who applies and what they need. You must be a "Police Street" before being promoted Detective and / or homicide investigator. But being a patrol officer serve him well in the case where a working day in the murder. You will learn survival of the street and help you gain experience and knowledge under the Basic Law. He gives what we call "street credibility "This means that we meet people in the street and develop relationships with some friends one day, you try to offer help once you become a homicide investigator. All investigators of homicide carried a gun and a badge. The main difference between a policeman and a detective the street is that the cops in the street in uniform clearly identified as police officers. The homicide investigators are usually dressed in civilian clothes and try prevent most people know who they are. Homicide addicts tend to use a bit more stealth when operating, because the job requires. As for physical requirements, again depends on you ask. Most agencies law enforcement want you to be able to run a mile and half in less than 13-15 minutes. It is usually weight training physical, like running, lifting, etc. The Academy will also show you search, arrest and seizure laws, and a number of other standards such tasks. You will learn the physical techniques to help tame and control subjects, for example, wives or someone who uses a walking stick or pepper spray. And of course, teaches training in firearms is vital. You must be able to keep calm and cool at least now he is in a situation where deadly force is necessary for you to go home this evening. There is a lot of information, but study and train hard and you will find yourself in a career extraordinary success. And hopefully along the way, the Investigation Unit homicides. Good luck!
