Is it true that the reason why the First World War German helmets had a point that has been struck by the head of the enemy?

Is this true or someone on me?

In fact, during the trench warfare WWI and "aggression" were vague much more common place and cause a lot of close combat. The Germans had helmets with spikes on them and were very effective, but the objective Global has been a rush "head" in the belly or chest instead of a header.
