What the presidents and generals start wars if they knew that they and their families have struggled .....?
.... wars on the battlefield? It is very easy to send others to fight wars for us and endanger their lives accordingly. And if they die, we call the "patriots" and give their parents and wives medals of valor to give more meaning to the solemn death.
There no single answer. But consider Theodore Roosevelt and his family. All served. One of their children died. Many presidents and generals are fought and wars have begun. I understand your point. But I think those who believe that wars begin in enough to sacrifice. I would not be capable. And I do not want the generals and presidents to start wars. But they are hypocrites or cowards, necessarily. I am sure that some and some that are not. But you can not put everything in one basket.
