German Photo Helmet
Jul/110
Why did soldiers in world war two...?
...cock their helmets/hats to one side? I've got pictures of British, American and Germans doing it, and I just never understood why.... Any input?

*I am not a racist, nor do I support the actions of Nazi Germany. The photo of the German SS Officer is purely for reference.*
Well... Given it's a uniform, I figured there is a "uniformed" way to wear it, and it wouldn't be up to the wearer's interpretation. My buddy, who's a Marine, told me that he'd probably get in trouble if he wore his cap cocked to one side.
For that matter, why did GI's in WW2 tuck their ties in between their buttons on their shirts?
It was just the style and most likely based on the fact that the "wedge" cap many military forces wore was worn that way as well.
