Does the British Army have a medal for being wounded in action? If not, why?

Because you dont have to be involved in an act of bravery to get shot. You can be having a crap and get shot in the butt ! Get a medal for that? So having a crap is a brave act?
Plus we brits do not want 20 rows of ribbons that are meaningless. We prefer one row that actually means something.
I always find it funny when you see an American General( not you normal soldiers guys... i know you earn yours) in dress uniform. I counted on one, 7 rows of medal ribbons ! Jeez ! America hasnt been in that many conflicts ! This bugger must have fought for every side in every war to get all those.
Is there a " changing office " medal in hte Pentagon?
