1.7 million German prisoners of war died of hunger in the area of the U.S. military death in captivity after the Second World War?

after World War II, some 1.7 million German POWs died of hunger in the United States military captivity! is that reality or hoax? and why this act of barbarism against the Germans!?

It was a claim by a Canadian author James Bacque ignited in a book Losses on Alternate proof of their claims is weak and depends largely on information from Soviet Russia, which took more than 4 million Germans to rebuild their cities as forced labor, and of course do not want to appear the villain of the international press. U.S. participation in the post-war Germany and America in the fields is well documented by the Red Cross, the Allied nations (which helped to move many prisoners of war), and other forces to rebuild the country. However, there have been incidents where groups of relief as the Red Cross is not allowed in the camps and authorized to inspect the prisoners of war, feeding the claims mistreatement etc. The reasons why they were excluded it was explained it was interrogation camps or camps for the more violent, but I'm not sure about these claims, personally. In addition, we Eisenhower decided to German POWs to occur and to suffer as they had in their camps. Remember that the German death camps is prisoners of war mixed with gypsies, Jews, etc., but I understand that Eisenhower wishes never materialized and recanted later, he said and expressed regret for his words which have been admitted to anger. The Germans documented forced to work for I think allies are only about 800,000 and I know many of them remained in the United States, Britain and France refused to go home. It's my understanding of the subject, and I hope this helps.
