What is the best way to find records of the war for the soldiers who fought during the First World War?
My grandfather fought during the First World War, my mother knows who fought in the Battle of the Somme and was wounded and returned to the United Kingdom, however, never spoke of war with my mom, she has just learned he is slaughtered by my grandmother. Does anyone know the best way to find their service in war.
Try Search the first link for how to search. If you know your regiment / battalion, then you may be able to contact the Museum for more information. Another interesting thing to do is look Diaries Battalion. I'm lucky to live in London, so I managed to read and take notes on the movements of my late great-uncle of the 1st World War to his death in 1915. The National Archives in Kew have information. The third link is to medal rolls. Well good luck in your search. I hope it is exciting.
